"Paul - An honour and a privilege to play on stage with you. An absolute pleasure to spend time in your company. The sparkle has gone. Until we meet again. Love" Madonna X

"It was a sad funeral yesterday in Downpatrick. However Paul's popularity was demonstrated by the crowds who turned up for the funeral - the church was full. The group who he used to play with - Darragh Folk and other musicians provided some very appropriate music throughout the church service. He was a great guy who I was always very happy to play alongside - and I have some reservations about a lot of bodhran players! Paul was the best. He will be sadly missed, not only by his family circle but by countless musicians who were privileged to know him and play music with him." Ernie

Paul getting in the groove

"Paul was the life and soul of a gig. He could make the drum talk and the crowd loved him. He took bodhran playing to new heights through his hard work and creativity. In spite of the jokes it WAS a musical instrument in his hands. What a legacy to future drummers. He lived for his family, friends and music and he gave us so much. What a terrible loss but such wonderful, happy memories. Thanks Paul." Ian

One of the good guys has left us - way too soon. Not only was Paul a master of his chosen instrument but more importantly a man of great warmth and charm. So beat the drum slowly my man - some of us have trouble keeping up with the pace you set as an instrumentalist. And if you're on the door up yonder when my time comes, could you turn a blind eye to the jeans and trainers?
Thanks for all the fond and happy memories Paul - see ya later." Colm
